| PURPOSE OF FOUNDATION | Amani ya Africa is an organization supporting exchange with Africa, founded in Sendai by a woman who visited the Kenyan region of Kibara during a trip in 1998. She wanted to do something to support the people who were living in a difficult environment, doing their best to live wonderful, fulfilling lives. Inspired by her encounter with children who were living in absolute poverty, out of reach from the helping hand of the government, and where there is no interest in international communities. |
| INTRODUCTION | Amani ya Africa means "Peace in Africa" in Swahili. We aim to serve as a bridge between Africa and Japan, benefiting both the environment and people alike; helping achieve world peace. Our activities are based on the 3 pillars of educational support, support to achieve financial independence, and cultural exchange; which help those in Kenya who continue to live in poverty. There are high school students, working adults, and the elderly who participate in our activities. |
