| PURPOSE OF FOUNDATION | In addition to projects and conventions (both domestic and international) which will attract tourists, expand product markets by utilizing cultural, societal, and economic characteristics unique to Sendai and Miyagi. We also aim to promote international exchange activities and contribute to building an energetic city by growing the number of people involved in exchange, stimulating the local economy, and forming a multicultural society. |
| INTRODUCTION | The International Relations Department of the Sendai Tourism, Convention and International Association (SenTIA) is involved in internationalization and multiculturalism projects. The Sendai Multiculturalism Center provides multilingual information which is useful in the daily lives of foreign residents. Additionally, the Center handles consultations related to the daily lives of foreign residents and building a multicultural community. |
| PR | SenTIA’s International Relations Department aims to improve projects which support foreign residents. SenTIA started the Sendai Multicultural Center’s “Interpretation Support Hotline” to take consultations from foreigners in 22 languages, in addition to dispatching community interpretation supporters to provide language support at government office service counters and other locations. Specialist Consultation Sessions are also held with cooperation from the Sendai Regional Immigration Bureau, Sendai Bar Association, Miyagi Administrative Scrivener Association, Miyagi Labour Bureau, Tohoku Tax Accountant’s Association, and Sendai City Entrepreneurship Support Center ASSISTA. |
